Mappleton
Site Details
Site Description
This is an unofficial site.
It has a narrow wind direction to be soarable and wind speed are best at 23-28kmh on the top
It regularly sea breezes in summer giving superb long cliff run soaring 38km runs are normal.
Basic Information
1. Only fly with sufficient beach to land on. The cliffs are small therefore in stronger winds you need to push out and a lot of beach is needed to turn and land safely.
2. Be sure of the tides before you fly. The beach is very shallow to the South and reaches up to the base of the cliffs in some areas on the smallest of tides, hours before stated high tide. You may get cut off on a long cliff run if you are not vigilant, as it comes in very quickly even if it looks a long way out.
3. Give yourself 1.5 to 2hrs to do the long cliff run as well as allowing 1-2 hrs before high tide.
4. Watch the state of sea continuously. White caps further out indicate wind strengthening. The wind can pickup quickly, especially in the afternoon and with sun on the Holderness plains

Site Rules
